Bookbag boxes will be left under the class windows in the mornings. They will be organised by Guided Reading groups (Ants, Bears, Cats, Dogs and Elephants). The children should put their bookbag into the right box when they enter school in the morning. If it is a child's day for changing their reading books, they should go to the library when they arrive at school in the morning and change their books before coming on to the playground and putting their bookbag away.
Year 1 Curriculum
Please click on the link below for more information on the curriculum being covered in Year 1 this year. There will a topic focus for each term. Our focus for Terms 5 and 6 is the Great Fire of London. If you have any resources at home which you are happy to bring into school for the children to use in their role-play, please bring them in for the children to enjoy!
Class 1 has PE on Monday afternoon. We are also visiting Faversham Swimming Pool on Thursday afternoons during this term. Please ensure that your child is fully equipped for PE and Swimming and that all their kit including shoes is clearly named. Thank you!
Eagles Class visited the Otterden Estate to find out about the features and uses of trees. They worked together to build shelters from branches, took part in a scavenger hunt, learned about the different types of trees, played games to help understand what trees need to grow and to identify the parts of a tree and watched a tree being felled for sustainable human use.
Eagles Class had a visit from PC Lewis, during which we got to look in a real police car and find out all about the different roles of the police!
World Book Day
Eagles Class enjoyed dressing up for World Book Day. Have a look at their fabulous costumes below!
Food chain paper chains
Class 1 have been learning about food chains in the natural world, so we have had a go at making some food chain paper chains to put up in the class for Christmas decorations!
Eagles Class Trip to Wildwood
Eagles Class thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Wildwood. We learned about the differences between groups of animals, and we were lucky to see a large number of the park's residents, including watching the otters and lynx being fed!
