At Luddenham School our curriculum is organised into topics which change every term (six times a year) and these cover different aspects of the curriculum across all year groups. These should remain consistent from academic year to year but the order that they are completed in may vary although these plans will be adapted in order to meet the needs of the children within each class. Each year group will follow their own curriculum from Early Years to Year 6; the long term curriculum maps to show this have been updated for the current academic year and can be seen below. Within some of these topics the teacher may give the children the opportunity to steer their learning towards an area they are particularly interested in - putting the children further in control of their learning.
This new EPIC Curriculum will encompass as many aspects of the children's learning as possible. This will be achieved by covering linked texts through Literacy and Guided Reading as well as making links where possible through Mathematics. Then all the National Curriculum areas will be met through our Exciting, Project-based, Immersive, Creative curriculum. These will include the following subject areas: Geography, History, Art, Design and Technology, Computing and Science.
Two important elements of our Topic curriculum are:
These could be an activity linked to their topic, a trip, a workshop in school, sharing their learning with parents or another event their teacher decides on following their class theme.
