Luddenham School Every Child Can Achieve

EASTER HOLIDAYS LEARNING

Hello there my lovely little Sparrows!

I hope you are all having and enjoying, a wonderful, choco-tastic Easter Holiday! The weather has not been too sunny however, I do hear from Mr Sparrow, that the sun is on its way- so do not worry! I cannot wait to take our learning outside a little more.

MINIBEAST HOUSES

As the weather begins to warm up (eventually!) ... the minibeasts shall begin to appear, as many of them enjoy the sun, just as much as we do! I wonder which ones we will be able spot around the school grounds? Let's become minibeast explorers! I am sure we will get a number of wiggly little visitors hiding in and under lots of cheeky nooks and some may even be caught sunbathing...if you look carefully! Wouldn't it be fun to go on a minibeast hunt, with your own homemade minibeast houses?! Maybe your parents/ carers would like to join us?

Your challenge, is to begin to make your own, special, portable minibeast houses, By collecting lots of different materials to place in your houses, you will be providing them with some little hiding spots, where you will gently place them, whilst we walk around and explore.

Here are some suggested materials that you may wish to use, to create your brilliant minibeast houses;

  • A kitchen roll tube or a smaller box placed in a shoe box would be a perfect little hiding place!
  • Leaves
  • Grass
  • Tubes
  • Bark/ sticks
  • Small stones
  • Straw
  • Soil
  • Ice cream tub
  • Cardboard box/ fruit tray

Of course, you can use whatever materials you can find around your house, so long as it is just the right size for you to carry around our little friends in. Our wonderful little minibeast friends play a very important role in our environment, so as always, it is most important that we let them back into the great outdoors, once we have completed our hunt and shared our learning/ findings with each other at the end of the day. smiley

DO NOT WORRY- THIS EVENT WILL NOT TAKE PLACE UNTIL THE MONTH OF MAY- FINAL DATE TO BE CONFIRMED. THIS WILL GIVE OUR GORGEOUS BRITISH SUMMER WEATHER TIME, TO WORK ITS MAGIC AND BRING THE OUTDOORS TO LIFE!

LITERACY ACTIVITIES

  • Can you write your name and decorate it, using pictures of spring flowers or animals that we have talked about in class? (rabbits, chicks, lambs, cats)
  • Are you able to draw a beautiful picture of your favourite Easter egg and write the name of the person who gave it to you, underneath?- Don't forget that a name is a very important word...so please remember to use a CAPITAL letter as the FIRST letter of that person's name smiley

mailPlease remember to practise your letters and sounds that you have learnt so far- found in your special yellow 'Phonics Journey' book. I will be checking to see which ones you can remember, when you come back to school crying I know you are all super stars with your Phonics learning now and I am super proud of how well you have all come along- WELL DONE SPECIAL SPARROWS!

MATHS ACTIVITIES

  • Are you able to ESTIMATE how many worms you might find in your garden? I wonder where these cheeky little wiggly worms may be hiding?
