Our School Values

The Luddenham Way

In accordance with The Department for Education we aim to actively promote British values in schools to ensure young people leave school prepared for life in modern Britain. Pupils are encouraged to regard people of all faiths, races and cultures with respect and tolerance and understand that while different people may hold different views about what is ‘right’ and ‘wrong’, all people living in England are subject to its law.

The Key Values are:

  • democracy
  • rule of law
  • individual liberty
  • mutual respect
  • tolerance of those of faiths and beliefs

At Luddenham School we strive to teach British values through our own school values.

Fairness

we believe that everyone has the right to be treated fairly based on who they are and what they need to achieve

Leadership

we want our pupils to develop the skills to lead in various aspects of both their current and future life.

Imagination

we think children should be curious and creative in their learning. To ask questions to find out more and acquire the knowledge and skills they need

Grit

we want our children to be resilient and determined learners, keen to achieve in all aspects of the curriculum

Honesty

we feel that owning our actions and words helps us become responsible individuals and learn from our mistakes

Teamwork

we know that often more can be achieved when working with others and this requires skills to be harmonious and effective

We encourage our pupils to achieve their very best by demonstrating our school values in everything we do.

We use a clear set of school expectations to help guide pupils in achieving our values in all aspects of school life.  They are:

When we recognise that children are demonstrating our values and expectations they are awarded a GREEN TOKEN. This token is collected towards our house points which transfers towards a house team reward each term.

Celebrating Excellence

We believe in a positive behaviour approach and recognise and celebrate this in various ways.

On Friday we have a celebration assembly where we:

  • Nominate someone from each class for one of our core values
  • Nominate someone from each class who is our 'Always' child.  We recognise that many of our children always follow our school expectations and want to celebrate this through our Hot Choc Friday session with our Headteacher
  • Nominate one person in the school to receive Fred the FLIGHT flamingo.  Someone who has demonstrate our core values particularly that week.

  • Share our House points total for the week and the term.  The winning House Team for the term celebrate with a non-uniform day.
  • Nominated class for Ted the Tidy-Up Flamingo

Which House will you be in?

When you join us at Luddenham you are allocated one of our house teams.  You stay in this house throughout your time here.  We use these houses for team events and have a House and Deputy-House Captains for each team.  They are voted for by our staff.  Staff are also placed into houses.
