Homework

For homework, the children are expected to read daily, practice times tables on Times Table Rock Stars and practice weekly spellings on Spelling Shed for their spelling test which will take place on a Wednesday morning.

If you would like your child to do some additional maths and spelling practice, may I recommend Hit the Button and Spelling Frame.

In addition, we will send the children home with a Homework Takeaway. This homework is optional but if your child completes a task from the homework takeaway sheet, please encourage them to bring it in to show the class in Show & Tell on a Tuesday. This will give us a chance to celebrate their hard work outside of school and they will get their picture on the 'Homework Stars' board in our classroom.

Below, please find a copy of this term's Homework Takeaway, a copy of all weekly spellings for terms 1 and 2, a copy of the Year 3 and 4 Statutory Spelling List and a copy of all of the Times Tables the children will need to learn this year.

Reading!

In year 4, we are always trying to encourage the children to read new and exciting books. Please find two very helpful documents below.

The first is the 100 books to read in year 3 and 4. This is a great list to use to find your next book!

The second document is our 'Reading Roads' posters which suggest stories from KS1 to KS3 according to their genre!

Warning: The last book of each road is a KS3 (secondary school) recommendation, which means that the content may not be suitable for your primary child. If you would like to know whether a book is suitable for your child then please feel free to contact me or have a look at the book's reviews on amazon.

Of course, if you would like some help with book recommendations for your child then please don't hesitate to contact me at peacock@luddenham.kent.sch.uk
