If you are currently self-isolating and want some work please find some files below. It has what we are completing in English this week and the start of next week. I have also posted some Maths tasks linked with fractions. There is a file with the some of the activities for the next few week's Guided Reading sessions - this would rely on you having a copy of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone text. On Monday, Ms Marcelle provided the children with some web-based enquiries they could complete too so that is always an option. Any questions please do not hesitate to email me. Some maths documents include the answers so try to avoid using these before you have had a go. Miss Blay
We ended Sport Relief by dressing up in our Sports Kits and spending the afternoon playing Rounders in our Sports Houses against some parents! What a great week - thank you Miss Allingham and thank you parents for your donations!
Year 6 have had great fun this week creating Beeswax wraps, Macrame keychains and other enterprise ideas for their Rangers Day. They have then got stuck into a Range of Sports activities to support Sport Relief!
Kingfishers were all enthusiastic about book day, they redesigned some of their favourite book covers, helped sell off books to the rest of the school and completed a book tasting event. The children went round 4 tables of grouped books and got to sample them (read their blurbs, first chapters etc and then decided on their favourite one from each table selection). Some have already borrowed some of these books to start reading this weekend and others have planned out the books they are reading next! It was lovely to see them discussing and enthusiastic about books!
We have kick-started Term 4 with a Harry Potter dress up day, Butterbeer making and tasting, Wand making and some Sorting Hat poetry performing! We have lots of fun!
We loved being in our pyjamas for the last day of term! We had fun completing our Fun Run in the afternoon for Isabelle! Happy half term everyone!
Our last writing unit of Term 3 involved us experimenting with vinegar, Bircarbonate of Soda and food colouring! There were some rainbow explosions which resulted in some fantastic scientific reports being written! The children worked hard to publish this and included scientific diagrams too! The children helped to capture these photos to support their write-ups.
We all loved the Spelling Bee this afternoon! The KS2 teams worked really hard under pressure! Well done Tornado House for winning - it was a close call with one point between first and second place! Thank you Miss Reddey for organising it!
Year 6 loved having Miss Emily in from Miss Sophie’s Dance School today for our Rangers Day. We have done a range of dance styles linked to the music from Harry Potter, some acrobatics work and some street dance to a range of music. This has involved carrying out individual and unison moves as well as working as a class and in smaller groups.
We have kick started our 'What is magic?' topic with our class trip to the Warner Bros Studios. We all had an amazing time and here are a selection of pictures from the day!
The whole school enjoyed it when iRock came in for a special assembly - some of the Kingfishers ended up trialling making a school band too! Thank you for all the cake donations! The costumes and amount raised has made a nice start in covering the cost for our Leavers Hoodies at the end of the year!
The Kingfishers ended the Term and Topic by creating their very own Anderson Shelters individually or in pairs/groups. Please take a look at some of their amazing creations! I would also like to thank you for all your support so far this year and wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
We ran our own Mock Election in school where the political parties explained their manifestos and tried to get as many votes as possible from the whole Luddenham Community! Well done to Save Our Earth for securing the most votes and winning the election!
After some feedback on homework from Parent's Evening, I have decided to add some written homework tasks to our class page under the homework section. These are optional tasks but if the children bring them into school I will mark them and provide suggestions for improvements. For completeing the tasks the children will recieve 5 green tokens! I will add these termly and provide one for each week of the term but they can be completed in any order and the children can select the image or genre which most appeals to them! They will comprise of an image and some questions or suggestions of things they can write about linked to this but they can write in the style and genre that most inspires them! I hope this is helpful! Please find a selection for this term under the Homework section!
